A sample (or flight, if you will) of the beer and cocktail selection, food menu and atmosphere of the new Detroit Granite City Food & Brewery. Doors open to the public Wednesday, February 10 at 11 a.m.
What the opening means to Granite City Food & Brewery:
– The restaurant and brewery marks the chain’s 35th location
– It’ll be their largest location to date, stretching 16,000 square feet
– Detroit will be the first to showcase their re-vamped cocktail menu
What it means to the city:
– Once open, it will mean breweries in Detroit will have doubled in a year’s time
– Its Jefferson facing entrance will give visitors a unique dining perspective
Now to the good stuff:
Seeing as Granite City is predominantly a brewery, expect many of the taps to house their own brews.
Five on-site fermentation tanks will serve up GCB favorites like The Northern, Prairie Vixen, The Bennie, The Duke, Batch 100 and Broad Axe. They’re also planning a seasonal rotating menu, including a 48243 small-batch series available at the GMRENCEN location only. First brew of the series – a Spanish Cedar Double IPA – available starting February 10, while supplies last.
It’s also worth mentioning that Granite City beer is only available at Granite City Food & Brewery locations (in Michigan at least) so if you’re looking to enjoy a cold one at home – grab a growler starting at $30.
The revamped cocktails menu highlight favorites like their Juicy Watermelon Martini, Black Cherry Old Fashioned, The Flying Monkey, and Blood Orange Bourbon Sour. If you think they look good, wait till you taste them.
Like most things at the new Detroit restaurant, the menu has been specially crafted to cater to the location. We recommend trying one of EVERYTHING.
The space features warm, wood polished stone accents, unique lighting fixtures and as a nod to its new home, automotive-inspired artwork.
The main bar (yes, there are two) lights up the Jefferson Ave. entrance and window panels around the brew room give guests a look into the brewing process.
Granite City Food & Brewery Detroit is located on level 1 of tower 100 inside the GMRENCEN. Hours: Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. – Midnight, Sunday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
