GM River Days

By the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, it’s our mission to improve and develop the Detroit International Riverfront.

For many Metro Detroiters, GM River Days presented by Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort—which will be held June 23 through June 25 along the beautiful Detroit Riverfront—is the unofficial kick off to summer. The popular festival is hosted by the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy and takes place in the shadow of the GMRENCEN.

GM River Days truly has something for everyone.  This year’s event features activities in the sky, on land and in water.  With so much to see and do, it’s a good thing that there’s three full days to enjoy the event.  To help make the most of your visit, we’ve come up with a list of 10 things to check out at GM River Days.

GM River Days Music

Jam out every day to a diverse musical lineup of more than 50 national and local musical acts covering genres like rock, soul, jazz, reggae, country and R & B across four different stages.

Enjoy GM River Days from a bird’s-eye view, while soaring high above the action along a 300-foot-long zip line at more than 20 mph.

Steady your hands and go for a bull’s eye at the archery station, which is just one of the educational and hands-on activities the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has planned for this year’s event.

Take in some live entertainment on the stage or try your hand at some arts and crafts at the Flagstar Bank Kids Zone, which also features music, magicians, puppet shows and face painting.

Train your eyes to the sky and enjoy an air show by the Tuskegee Airmen National Historical Museum each day and marvel at the skills of pilots flying vintage and modern aircraft.

Find a good spot along the marine railing to watch Jet Ski acrobatics as Typhoon Tommy brings his freestyle team to perform big air jumps, back flips, corkscrew spins and underwater dives.

Watch as 50 tons of sand is transformed into an incredible work of art by Team Sandtastic at this fan favorite, which is sponsored by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

Ride your hog down to the riverfront on Friday, June 23 and enjoy free parking along Atwater Street and free admission to GM River Days for bikers while rocking out to Ann Wilson.

Thrill at a dizzying array of carnival rides and midway games or sample more than a dozen drink and food offerings from local businesses at the Taste of Detroit Food Court.

Take a deep breath and plunge down a 30-foot high tube slide that takes riders on a pitch-black trip reaching speeds up to 20 mph.

There’s also Coast Guard cutter tours, Diamond Jack boat tours, a climbing wall, strolling buskers throughout the festival grounds and much, much more.
