2016 Holiday Celebrations in Detroit

Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but this season is so delightful. Holiday time in Detroit is like no other. Here are some things that you can do in the city to celebrate this holiday season:

Family Fun

The whole family can enjoy holiday fun at the Detroit Historical Society with festive fashion shows and family friendly fun on New Year’s Eve.


The Detroit Institute of Arts is Detroit’s culture hub and with exhibits like Bittersweet: Coffee, Tea & Chocolate and youth drawing galleries, everyone in the family sure to have a good time over the holiday break.


For some more hands-on activities, the Michigan Science Center’s Creatures of Light exhibit is a unique experience everyone will enjoy.


Outdoor Activities

Celebrate New Year’s Eve downtown to see the D drop in Campus Martius, ride a horse drawn carriage and ice skate. Book a room at the Detroit Marriott and stay just minutes from all the action.


The last 5k of the year. End the year on the right foot by running for the 47th Annual Belle Isle Family Fun Run/Walk.

Stay downtown at the GMRENCEN at the Detroit Marriott or Courtyard Marriott, and live it up at any of these festive New Year’s Eve Parties!

Do something different for NYE and bring in the New Year on the Detroit Princess Riverboat at their New Year’s Eve Motown Dinner.


Party until the ball drops at one of the most popular NYE celebrations in Detroit, the Resolution Ball at the Fillmore.
