Music, food, exercise, oh my! There is something for everyone On the Plaza in July. Whether you’re interested in soulful jazz music or stretching your body into creative positions, you can be sure to find it on the GM Plaza.
Here’s a snapshot of the events coming On the Plaza this month:
De-stress from the busy work day with Rooftop Yoga on top of the Beaubien Place Garage. The GMRENCEN, in partnership with RenCen Fitness will host free Rooftop Yoga at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 12. Space is limited to 60 people and you can sign up here. Beginners and advanced yogis are welcome!
Detroiter Nicole New will bring her creative talents to On the Plaza on Tuesday, July 18 from 11:30 a.m.to 1:30 p.m. Combining jazz, pop, opera and musical theatre into a unique sound, Nicole wows audiences with a sound all her own. Known for breathing new life into older songs, Nicole will reimagine classics On the Plaza.
Eastern Market On the Plaza
Experience one of the oldest and largest year-round markets in the United States, as part of the On the Plaza. Eastern Market farmers will have fresh produce and Michigan-made products On the Plaza from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on July 18. No cash? No problem! The Eastern Market Farm Stand accepts credit and debit cards.
One Love Reggae
One Love Reggae will serenade the GM Plaza with their sweet, colorful reggae music. Join them On the Plaza Thursday, July 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for this fun Caribbean experience.
Allen Cruz & The Galaxy
Named after a popular comic book movie, Allen Cruz & The Galaxy are known for their tight musicality, soaring vocals and catchy songwriting. Allen Cruz & The Galaxy will bring their punk rock style On the Plaza Tuesday, July 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Expanding their mission to make a “healthier, wealthier and happier Detroit,” Eastern Market comes back On the Plaza on Tuesday, July 25 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Find Michigan-grown produce that directly benefit the Southeastern Michigan community.
Rooftop Yoga returns to the top of the Beaubien Place Garage Wednesday, July 26 at 5 p.m. The health benefits of yoga include improved flexibility, muscle growth, posture alignment, increased blood flow, lowered blood pressure and an improved mental health. New yogis and pros are invited to participate!
Amy Andrews will bring the twangy, folksy sound of the south On the Plaza Thursday, July 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Amy is an opera singer turned folk songwriter, who has numerous honors for her songwriting and ability to “transport” listeners with her performance.
