GM Maven Ride Share Program

Detroit is known as the Motor City and many of us live in our vehicles. But what happens when you live and work downtown and don’t always have your car handy or don’t want to give up your sweet parking spot? Enter Maven. Maven is a car sharing service developed by General Motors that simplifies the car rental process. If you’re in Detroit and need a ride, get behind the wheel of a Maven vehicle. Now that the GMRENCEN has its very own Maven hub, there’s no excuse not to take it for a spin. Here’s how it works:

1. Download the app and sign up

Maven is an app based car sharing service so everything that you’ll need to rent the car is available in the app, which is available in the App store and in the Google Play store. After the app is downloaded, sign up in a just a few minutes with an email address, valid driver’s license and a credit card.

2. Reserve a car

Where do you need to go? After you sign up, you can browse through available cars in your area and decide where you want to go. Select electric, compact cars and sedans for as little as $8 per hour or choose an SUV for $14 per hour.

3. Drive

On your reserved date, your car will be available in the location you selected. Luckily for us here at the GMRENCEN, we have a location for Maven cars in the Beaubien Parking Garage and there’s another location in Detroit at Next Energy. Run your errands, see your friends, take care of your appointments and drop the car back off. The ride will be tracked via the mobile app, so when you drop off the car hit end and that’s it! Need to go a little farther? No problem, there are other locations in Ann Arbor, Chicago and Washington D.C., just to name a few.

If you’re wondering where to get the keys, they’re in the app. As long as you have your phone, you’ll have everything you need for your ride. The cars can be checked out for as little as 30 minutes or as long as four days. Find out more about Maven online.
