Instead of going to Eastern Market, Eastern Market is coming to you this summer! The GMRENCEN is excited to host another fresh food-filled summer when Eastern Market returns to the GM Plaza in June.
When will they begin?
Our season with Eastern Market kicks off June 6 and runs through Oct.17. They’ll be returning to the GM Plaza from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesdays this summer. Look out for their Eastern Market tent on the way to your car each day!
What produce can I buy?
You’ll be able to buy all kinds of locally grown produce when the farm stand returns. Last year, Eastern Market brought raspberries, romaine lettuce, garlic, tomatoes, green beans, cucumbers, broccoli, sprouts, cabbage, asparagus, potatoes, grapes, cilantro, rutabagas, squashes, bell peppers, bananas, blueberries, watermelons, onions, zucchini, eggs and more. The farm stand will also sell locally sourced and produced jams, jellies and honey.
Eastern Michigan is committed to shepherding their rich history to nourish a healthier, wealthier and happier Detroit. They manage operations, develop programs, build facilities, provide infrastructure and collaborate with community partners to:
- Strengthen the Eastern Market District as the most inclusive, resilient and robust regional food hub in the United States.
- Fortify the food sector as a pillar of regional economic growth.
- Improve access to healthy, green, affordable and fair food choices in Detroit and Southeast Michigan.
Through our partnership as a satellite farm stand, we are happy to provide those who work in the building and local Detroiters the chance to live healthier, more resourceful lives without high prices. We are a proud sponsor of Eastern Market’s farm stand program.
