After a long winter season, Michigan is finally starting to look like summertime again. Break out your sunglasses, summer wardrobe and flip flops and head to Detroit for a little fun in the sun. Here are six activities happening in Detroit this spring to help you kick off the best season in Michigan.
Go to a Tigers Game
There’s nothing quite like going to a Tigers game. There’s not a bad seat in the stadium and fans of all ages can join in on the fun. Make it a family outing or even a date, either way it’s sure to be a good time. You can view their schedule and purchase tickets on the Tigers website.
Pro Tip: Park at the GMRENCEN and take the People Mover or the QLINE over to Comerica.
Walk the Riverfront
The Detroit Riverfront is a great spot to exercise, ride the carousal or enjoy the sunset. There’s always something to see along the 5.5 mile-long strip. The GMRENCEN tours take advantage of the nice weather by taking guests down to the riverfront. Want to sign up? Just visit Pure Detroit at 12 or 2 p.m. daily.
Go to a Concert
Get Groovy at the Detroit Movement Festival
Held annually during Memorial Day weekend, Movement Electronic Festival is a three-day event at Heart Plaza celebrating Detroit music. This year’s festival takes play from May 27 – 29 and features an extensive lineup of artists, artwork and food vendors. Get your tickets here.
Experience the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix
We encourage all car lovers to take a trip to the Raceway at Belle Isle Park for an action-packed weekend held June 2-4. Watch the races for free on Friday, June 2 or make a weekend out of it and purchase tickets for Saturday and Sunday.
